The food forest was established November 2016 and is comprised of a canopy of fruit and nut trees, a sub-canopy of berry bushes, and herbaceous layer of culinary and medicinal herbs, annual and perennial vegetables, and edible flowers.

We rely on compost and cover crops for fertility and only use organic (i.e. OMRI LISTED) materials on the rare occasions we need to take additional steps to protect our crops.

We are not currently certified organic, but follow organic guidelines. Our farm consists of 10 acres near Gaston known locally as the Hering Homestead. We are grateful to be the stewards of this well loved piece of land.
