Naked Acres Farm
We are pursuing our dream of having a successful small farm that grows in an organic and sustainable system. Our 75-acre farm in the beautiful Beavercreek area has spacious fields with a large riparian area.
We have a free-range flock of about 200 egg-laying chickens, a small herd of goats that provides milk for soap making, and we raise Katahdin sheep, Tamworth pigs and Dexter cows for meat. We are also looking into the right breed for meat goats.
All of our animals are raised in an outdoor, pasture-based natural environment. We are committed to raising animals humanely, and strongly believe that good meat comes from happy animals, which is one reason why we have been designated as an Animal Welfare Approved-farm. This status affirms that our animals are living humane, healthy, happy lives. The chickens range the farm eating bugs, dust bathing, foraging and brooding out chicks on their own. The goats, sheep, pigs and cows are rotationally grazed on more than 30 acres of pasture and wooded areas. We enjoy watching the barnyard entertainment every day!
The crops we grow are available at local farmers markets year round and our seasonal CSA. We often select heirloom varieties and those that perform well in the Pacific Northwest. We are a no-spray farm and are Certified Naturally Grown.
A few times each year we have open-farm days where everyone is invited to meet all the animals and see where we grow our food. It is a wonderful way to share the seasonality of a small farm as well as to meet others with common interests in eating local and supporting small sustainable farms.
