FOOD for Lane County Youth Farm
The FOOD for Lane County Youth Farm is a non-profit educational food bank farm located in Springfield, Oregon. We work with youth and community members to grow produce for the food bank, two weekly produce stands and a 150-member CSA. We offer free educational opportunities to the public and employment and education to local teens. CSA members can pay on a sliding scale and we accept SNAP.

The Youth Farm CSA has several options for members. They can choose a 25-week season where they pick up either a family size (9-11 items) or a small size (6-7) pre-packaged tote at a convenient drop site each Wednesday. We strive to create a balanced mix of all the produce that is ripe and ready at our farm. Another option is a market share where for 22 weeks, members can come to one of our produce stands, either the Riverbend Stand on Thursday afternoon/evening, or the Youth Farm stand on Saturdays and choose 9-11 different items for a family share or 6-7 different items for a small share. Throughout the season we have 40 types of produce available to CSA members including vegetables, tree fruit, strawberries, and some herbs. Please note that our shares are vegetable dominated. CSA members also receive an online newsletter with recipe ideas and stories from the farm.

Payment in our CSA is on a sliding scale, and we ask that members pay as high on the scale as they are able:

  • Wednesday drop sites (25 weeks)
  • Family $500-675 sliding scale
  • Small $375-500 sliding scale
  • Either Produce Stand (22 weeks)
  • Family $450-625 sliding scale
  • Small $350-450 sliding scale

Membership in our CSA supports the mission of FOOD for Lane County in reducing hunger by engaging our community to create access to food, and the work of the Youth Farm, to engage thousands of community members of all ages and backgrounds to grow food for the food bank and to learn while growing. Our youth farmers participate in a curriculum focused on work readiness skills, gardening, food systems, nutrition and financial literacy. We provide free public workshops for community members on topics like fruit tree pruning, spring propagation, gardening for pollinators, and winter gardening. We also offer an intensive season-long internship for aspiring urban farmers. We celebrate our season with an annual Youth Farm Fest, the 2nd Saturday in September with youth led tours of the farm, kids activities, PYO flower bouquets, live music, and of course, lots of yummy food.
