Love Farm CSA
The Love Family has farmed in the Willamette Valley since 1905. Love Farm CSA is the fifth generation of Loves on 25 acres of the original homestead. We are deeply committed to sustainable farming practices, growing beyond accordance with organic certification principles, always supporting a healthy, ecologically diverse environment.
Our CSA allows Portland metro-area residents a connection with their food and farmer and consists of predominately vegetables with plenty of fruit and some various herbs. We have 2 acres of orchard tree crops we use in the CSA-Shares and also over 10 different types of berry plantings. We have a natural wetland and established woods on the Farm abundant with wildlife, which we welcome our Share-Members to at least twice a year. Our love of this land and our new generation prevent us from using any harmful treatments or chemicals on the food we grow. We have two small children and work and eat with them regularly in our fields. We pride ourselves on safe and sustainable growing practices which are integral to our farm. Crop rotations, cover-cropping, composted manure’s and teas, green manures, and natural amendments foster our commitment to building soil organic matter and supporting the life (worms, fungi and much more!) of the soil. We never use synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides nor fungicides. We use native hedgerows and beneficial insectory plantings for pollinators established within our crops in the field. We conserve our water by using drip irrigation and often dry-farm crops to provide more nutrient density to the harvested foods. We only use untreated, organic seeds often favoring heirloom and open pollinated varieties that are well established in the Pacific Northwest. We strongly believe that regional agriculture is a critical component of a healthy, sustainable community. It is our Love of Life living the life we love that is embedded and flourishing on the Love Farm.
